Confession Time: I Always Wanted to Be a Spy

Why I write spy thrillers, what inspired Black Swan Division, and a sneak peek at Avenging Jessie, my upcoming romantic suspense release.

Confession Time: I Always Wanted to Be a Spy

When I was a kid, I had one dream: become a spy. Or a Charlie’s Angel!

The gadgets, the disguises, the code names—I wanted it all. What I didn’t realize? I have zero stealth skills. I’m the girl who trips over air, talks to herself in grocery store aisles, and would 100% set off the silent alarm before the mission even began.

So instead of joining the CIA, I did what any creative introvert with a flair for danger would do… I started writing about spies. And let me tell you, the thrill is still very real.

There’s something irresistible about uncovering secrets, righting wrongs, and watching strong women take control of their destinies—especially when the stakes are sky-high and the hero beside them is equally brave and broken.

Which brings me to Jessica Mendoza and Spencer Stirling, the duo in my upcoming release, Avenging Jessie (Black Swan Division, Book 3). Jessie’s done letting the past control her, and Spence? He’s ready to prove he’s more than the quiet tech guy behind the scenes. Together, they’re diving headfirst into a mission full of betrayal, sizzling chemistry, and high-tech danger.

👉 Avenging Jessie is slated for release on October 14th, and if you love romantic suspense with espionage, action, and a bit of “enemies forced into close quarters,” this one’s for you.

I may never have made it into the spy game, but writing about it? That’s my sweet spot.

What about you? If you could be part of a covert ops team, what role would you play?
🕵️ The undercover operative
💻 The tech genius
💣 The demolitions expert
🗝️ The master of disguise
Let me know in the comments—I’m always recruiting… in fiction, of course. 😉
